Weird SMB problem with t3ch 070415 and 20

March 22nd, 2010
  • Have a friend that has 3 xboxes in his network along with a few computers.
Last night i was over and helped him upgrade. Before the upgrade the smb-shares could be accessed fine and it sill works on the two boxes i haven't upgraded.
I've added the smb share WORKGROUP which all devices are using. I set up the default user/pass in settings. I can see all computers in WORKGROUP when i open it. I can scan the computers without problem. The problem is i can't open any of the computers. So if i go into Music -> WORKGROUP i can see for example "P4". If i try to open it nothing happens (waited a long time and the PC just have 4 folders shared). But if i press the white button and select scan i scans all files just fine.

I've done a clean install meaning i deleted the entire XBMC-folder, 0face008 in TDATA and UDATA and the cache folder from evox. A weird thing is that XBMC still has the old nickname for autodetection even though i've done this.

    Anyone has any ideas?

  • From default log (no XY) i get this (pressed a few times):

  • Haven't been able to go over to my friend and get logs yet but i just upgraded my own box to 070429 and now i got the same problem.
Weird thing is that when first started it worked (copied some albums with filemanager) and now (without reboot) it doesn't. All network settings are correct and i have another xbox with older cvs where it works fine.

    Hold XY during boot?

  • debug log will probably tell you what goes wrong (hold X,Y to get full logging)

  • Last night i found something interesting:
    1. Could see HTPC in "WORKGROUP" but could not be opened.
    2. Created a new bookmark from XBMC leading directly to HTPC
    3. After opening the bookmark HTPC (which worked fine):
    4. I can open HTPC in the bookmark "WORKGROUP"

This must mean that there's nothing wrong with my setup and something has happened to later builds of XBMC?

  • Anyone has any ideas or am i missing something very obvious?
