at fuji at the final lap while leading the race alonso lapped up hamilton ,i think at turn 1 , but at turn 2 hamilton again overtook Alonso..
Isnt it against the rules to overtake an car ,to which you are running a lap down!!??Alonso slowed down and let Hamilton back through because Alonso just wanted to play it safe and win the race he could not afford a collision with Hamilton or that would a disaster on the last lap. it is notHe wasn't penalised because he didn't do anything wrong.
It is ok to unlap yourself. I just thought the way hamilton did it seemed a bit dangerous but nothing that warranted a penalty.rules Report Abuse
nope it isn't !It is perfectly OK to a driver to unlap himself. But it's not ok not to let the leader through. (As in ignoring blue flags)No it isn't. Remember in France this year Kimi lapped the entire field then he had a problem and the entire field unlapped themselves.
The only thing against the rules is ignoring the blue flag or the blue light in the pits (hint).No.
It's against the rules not to let a car overtake if they are about to lap you, in which case you have to let them by before you have three blue flags waved at you.
But there's no rule about unlapping yourself.If you study the rules properly, you will know that you only have to let a car that is already about to overlap you to pass by. There is, however, no rule stating that you may not unlap your self.It's not illegal to unlap yourself. I suspect Alonso had slowed down at that point anyway as he was cruising to victory while Hamilton was still pushing hard to try and get in the points.There is nothing stopping you from unlapping yourself if you have the pace. No wrongdoing there, so no penalty.
