Wireless access points use...?

March 14th, 2010
  • a wireless access point (WAP or AP) allows wireless communication devices to connect to a wireless network right? and they use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth.. what else do they use?

  • Yes, that is correct. They other devices that want access to internet from the access point such as a laptop computer uses a wifi antenna (built-in on all laptops on the market today) to connect to a wireless network

  • Dear friend,

first of all WAP is not stands for Wireless Access Point, Just say ACCESS POINT, so APs function is just like LAN switch, to connect different network machines with each other.
And it doesn't use WiFi or bluetooth, its base on radio signals with 2.4 ghz and now in 5 ghz.
    WiFi is different Wireless Technology.
I hop its help u to understand AP.
and pls rate my answer if you feel its helping you. :)
    thnx
